Concept Art: Darathok Davids

This is concept work for one of my Dungeons and Dragons characters, Darathok Davids, a half-orc paladin!

He's made for the Eberron setting, so the dragonmark on his back hints at a more noble lineage than even he's aware of. He used to work as a royal guard to another dragonmarked house. I wanted his formal armour to be something quite showy and intimidating, but arguably not the most practical, as some ceremonial pieces are want to be. In particular, the helmet is designed to be an intimidating display of tusk, though the nature of it would make speech difficult.

His design draws inspirations from Japanese samurai, as well as the komainu guardian lion-dogs from Japanese mythology. Though his formal attire draws more from oni, again an indicator that his presence was often an intimidation display.
